Werth praises 'old man' Baker's bullpen management

Buck Showalter may be able to learn a thing or two from Dusty Baker.

Less than a week after Showalter opted against using closer Zach Britton in Baltimore's 5-2, extra-innings wild-card loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, one player from the National League Division Series echoed a different sentiment regarding his manager's bullpen management.

After the Washington Nationals evened their series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 5-2 win Sunday, outfielder Jayson Werth praised manager Dusty Baker's bullpen execution after the game, telling Washington Post reporter Adam Klingore, "That old man knew what he was doing."

After replacing starter Tanner Roark in the fourth inning, Nationals' relievers pitched a combined 3 1/2 scoreless innings with five strikeouts, helping lead the team to its first postseason win since Oct. 2014.
