Giants' Jeff Samardzija: Will start Game 2 of NLDS on Saturday
Samardzija has officially been announced as the starter for Saturday's NLDS matchup with the Cubs, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis:
This move doesn't come as much of a surprise considering Madison Bumgarner wouldn't have been available until Game 3 of the series after pitching in Wednesday's Wild Card game. The fact the he posted sub-3.00 ERAs in both August and September likely played a role in manager Bruce Bochy's decision to go with the Shark over Matt Moore. A matchup against the high-powered Cubs doesn't bode well for his DFS stock, but there is some potential for strikeouts (7.39 K/9).
