Roberts: Under no circumstances will Kershaw start Game 5

If the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Chicago Cubs in Wednesday's NLCS Game 4, they'll be one win away from a World Series berth.

But don't expect to see Clayton Kershaw so soon.

The Dodgers' ace last pitched in Game 2 - a 1-0 Los Angeles win - but manager Dave Roberts remained adamant that Kenta Maeda will start Game 5, adding that he sees no circumstances under which Kershaw takes the mound, according to the Los Angeles Times' Mike DiGiovanna.

Los Angeles has already turned to Kershaw in a couple of high-leverage situations this postseason. After starting Game 1 of the NLDS against the Washington Nationals, Kershaw appeared on short rest in Game 4, pitching 6 2/3 innings on the way to a 6-5 Los Angeles victory.

Roberts then called on his star hurler to record a two-out save in the deciding Game 5 - on just one day's rest.
