Ken Pagan, the man who allegedly threw a beer can onto the field in Monday's American League wild-card game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Baltimore Orioles that narrowly missed outfielder Hyun Soo Kim, has been charged with one count of mischief, according to a release from Toronto police.

Pagan, a sports copy editor for Postmedia, formally surrendered to police Thursday at 7:15 p.m. ET. and is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 24, according to the release.

In Monday's contest, Kim was tracking a Melvin Upton Jr. fly ball at the Rogers Centre when a can of beer sailed just past the outfielder at the warning track as he made the catch. Amateur sleuths on Twitter tried to solve the case with different conspiracy theories, but police said Thursday they had the right suspect.

"We are confident we have made a positive ID and we will continue to work with the Rogers Centre to further the investigation," spokesperson Meaghan Gray told The Associated Press.

In a statement released to the Toronto Sun, which is owned by Postmedia, Pagan indicated it was him in the photo but not the beer thrower. His lawyer told reporters he'll share his story in court.

The Blue Jays formally apologized to the Orioles for the incident Wednesday.
