Pirates' Jordy Mercer: Sidelined for season finale

Mercer (forearm) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, Rob Biertempfel of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Analysis:

Mercer will end the season with three consecutive absences due to the forearm injury, but it doesn't sound as though it's anything severe enough to limit him during the offseason. Pedro Florimon will cover shortstop in the season finale with Mercer out.
