Nationals' Max Scherzer: Overcomes leadoff homer to earn 19th win

Scherzer (19-7) allowed two runs on six hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts over six innings to beat the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Analysis:

Scherzer saw his very first pitch of the night get lofted into the seats by Jean Segura, but recovered well for his seventh consecutive quality start. His nationals trailed 2-0 heading into the bottom of the sixth, but scored four runs in that frame to help their ace turn his 13th double-digit strikeout performance into his 19th win. Scherzer will be going for his second 20-win season if the Nationals opt to let him pitch in the season finale Sunday against Miami.
