Rays' Blake Snell: Navigates through five scoreless frames in win

Snell (6-8) shut the Yankees out over five innings in Thursday's win, working around five hits and three walks while striking out six.

Analysis:

This outing was pretty much a microcosm of Snell's season -- the rookie has given up a lot of baserunners and offered precious little in the way of longevity, but has also done well to limit the damage against him, posting a 3.65 ERA in spite of a 1.64 WHIP. Those 94 strikeouts in 86.1 innings reinforce Snell's top-end potential, but he needs to cut down on his walks and become more efficient in general to sustain this success over the long haul. He'll wrap up his season against the White Sox on Wednesday.
