Brewers' Chase Anderson: Shuts down Pirates in 5.2 inning win
Anderson (9-11) allowed just one run on four hits and one walk Thursday while striking out six in 5.2 innings of work in a 3-1 win over the Pirates.
Analysis:
Anderson has put together a solid September for the Brewers, going 2-2 while ceding just three earned runs on 17 hits in 22.1 innings. He has achieved this by keeping the baseball inside the park and forcing groundballs on almost 47 percent of at-bats, a strong 17 percentage points higher than his groundball rate for August. He could be a risky play, however, next Wednesday when he faces Cole Hamels and the Rangers on the road.
