Twins' Joe Mauer: Sitting again for nightcap

Mauer is out of the lineup for Game 2 of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Analysis:

James Beresford will step in for his second career start at first base (fourth overall) as Mauer sits again, as he did for Game 1. Mauer has been really scuffling at the plate lately (.119/.245/.238 in September) and he's sitting more frequently as a result. Manager Paul Molitor said prior to Thursday's matinee that Mauer's swing has looked "laborious."
