Padres' Luis Perdomo: Beaten late in sharp start against Arizona

Perdomo (8-10) allowed three runs on five hits without a walk over seven frames in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He struck out two.

Analysis:

He was actually outdueling Zack Greinke through five innings in this one, having allowed just a first-inning Paul Goldschmidt solo shot. However, Goldschmidt homered off him for the second time in the sixth inning, a two-run blast that turned the game around and landed the Padres in the loss column. Perdomo's been surprisingly effective over his last six outings, pitching to an even 3.00 ERA with an even 1.00 WHIP in that span, with much-improved control to thank. Even so, he lacks pedigree and strikeout stuff, making it hard to see him sustaining this success. Perdomo next draws a Dodgers team that blasted him for nine hits and five runs earlier this month.
