Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zack Greinke received some positive news after undergoing an MRI on Friday, as no structural damage was found after he experienced stiffness in his shoulder.

The 32-year-old will miss his next start, which was scheduled for the beginning of next week against the Washington Nationals, reports MLB.com's Jake Rill.

Greinke did not accompany the team to Baltimore, opting to return to Phoenix to get the shoulder looked at instead.

The ace of the Diamondbacks' staff has had a disappointing first season in the desert after signing a $206.5-million contract in the offseason.

His 4.37 ERA is his highest since his sophomore campaign in 2005, while his 26 starts are the fewest he's made since 2011 when he was pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers.

Overall, Greinke owns a 13-7 record with a 1.27 WHIP in 158 2/3 innings of work for Arizona.
