Greinke to have MRI on stiff shoulder
Zack Greinke's disappointing first season with the Arizona Diamondbacks may be over, as the veteran right-hander was scheduled to have an MRI on his stiff shoulder Friday, manager Chip Hale told Nick Piecoro of AZCentral, casting doubt over whether he'll make his last two starts.
Though Greinke looked sharp in Wednesday's outing against the San Diego Padres, he experienced discomfort after allowing two runs over six innings in a 3-2 win, prompting the club to send him back to Phoenix for testing rather than accompany the team to Baltimore.
In the first season of a six-year, $206.5-million deal he signed in December, the 32-year-old has struggled to replicate his superb numbers from last summer, posting a 4.37 ERA - his worst since 2005 - in 26 starts and missing time with an oblique strain.
