Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Not close to resuming throwing program

General manager Jeff Luhnow indicated Monday that Keuchel (shoulder) won't throw anytime soon, MLB.com reports. "Still not throwing, so the more days that go by without throwing, the longer it's going to take him to ramp up," Luhnow said. "We'd have to go to pretty deep into the postseason for that even to be a consideration."

Analysis:

With that, Keuchel's 2016 season ends with a whimper. His follow-up to last year's Cy Young campaign was a major disappointment, as Keuchel went 9-12 with a 4.55 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 26 starts. The lefty's FIP shot up by nearly a run, as his strikeout and walk rates both went in the wrong directions, but Keuchel was showing some signs of improvement in the second half before going down with the shoulder injury. He will make for an intriguing middle-rounds rebound candidate next spring.
