Cubs' John Lackey: Fails to get 10th win Friday versus Brewers

Lackey didn't factor into the decision Friday versus the Brewers despite striking out eight over seven innings, while also giving up four earned runs on nine hits and two walks.

Analysis:

The veteran righty missed plenty of bats, generating 17 swinging strikes to be exact, but also fell victim to the long ball on three different occasions. Orlando Arcia got things started with a 428-foot solo shot in the second, while Ryan Braun followed suit with his own mammoth 448-foot solo blast in the fourth. Scooter Gennett made it a hat trick with a two-run shot in the seventh that snapped a 2-2 tie at the time. The four earned runs represented Lackey's highest total in that category since giving up the same number on July 17 versus the Rangers, and he's now failed to pick up his 10th win for four consecutive starts. He'll look to right the ship against the Cardinals next Friday.
