Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Dominates in rain-shortened start
Kershaw was dominant Wednesday, throwing five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit while striking out five at Yankee Stadium.
Analysis:
Kershaw's night was cut short by a pair of rain delays, although he may have been on a pitch count anyway in his second start coming off a back injury. He needed just 64 pitches to get through five innings, and showed no signs of rust whatsoever, picking back up what was on-track to be another Cy Young year. Kershaw lowered his ERA to 1.81, but failed to earn his 12th win as the Dodgers couldn't manage a run until the top of the ninth. Kershaw's command has been legendary in 2016, as he has walked only nine batters while striking out 155. That 17.2 K:BB would shatter Phil Hughes' record of 11.6 set in 2014 should Kershaw throw enough innings down the stretch to qualify.
