Blue Jays' Jose Bautista: Powers Jays past Rays in thick of pennant race

Bautista went 1-for-4 with a homer in Monday's 3-2 victory over the Rays.

Analysis:

Bautista entered play without an extra-base hit in September, but there were finally some signs of power in the sixth. Toronto's veteran slugger lifted a first-pitch cutter from Jake Odorizzi and sent it over the wall in left field for a two-run shot. According to Statcast, Bautista's 18th of the year was projected to travel 343 feet and left his bat at 93 mph. It was his first home run since Aug. 31 and his third since returning from the disabled list on Aug. 25.
