Giants' Denard Span: Slugs leadoff homer
Span went 1-for-5 with a solo homer in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
Analysis:
Span kick-started San Francisco's victory by taking Zack Greinke deep in the first at-bat of the game. The long ball was his 10th of the year, marking the first time in his nine-year career that he's reached double digits. Span's added power has been offset by a decline in batting average, however, as his .262 average would be a career-low. He's been slumping at the plate lately, managing just three hits in his past 40 at-bats, but perhaps Sunday's homer will awaken his bat.
