Kazmir to undergo MRI on injured neck, playoffs in doubt
Los Angeles Dodgers starter Scott Kazmir will undergo an MRI Friday after suffering a setback during his Triple-A rehab stint, according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
Manager Dave Roberts said ahead of Friday's game that Kazmir's availability for the playoffs is still up in the air, and that the left-hander will likely be shut down for "a couple of weeks."
Kazmir was removed from Wednesday's start for Oklahoma after only 2/3 of a inning, giving up a solo home run while issuing two walks. He has been out of action since Aug. 22 with neck inflammation and rib-cage soreness.
Before his injury, the 32-year-old posted a 10-6 record with a 4.68 ERA, his highest since 2010 as a member of the Los Angeles Angels. Kazmir signed a three-year, $48-million deal with the Dodgers last offseason, but it includes an opt-out for this winter.
