Correa honors countryman Clemente with special cleats

Carlos Correa may not be able to play on Roberto Clemente Day, but the Puerto Rican legend is not far from his mind.

The Houston Astros shortstop, who won't play again until Friday due to an inflamed shoulder, nevertheless chose to honor Clemente on Instagram by showing off a pair of specially-designed cleats bearing the Hall of Famer's likeness and his uniform No. 21.

Clemente was baseball's first Puerto Rican star and remains one of the most beloved figures in the island's history over 40 years after his tragic death. Though Correa is just 21, he already holds an important place in Puerto Rico's baseball history as the territory's highest-drafted player, when the Astros took him first overall in 2012.
