Giants' Denard Span: Sits again vs. LHP

Span is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies.

Analysis:

He will sit for the second straight game with a lefty on the mound in Coors Field. Manager Bruce Bochy said Span and Gorkys Hernandez are the only outfielders on the team that he trusts to cover all of the ground in center field in Coors Field, so Hernandez will get the start in center again against a southpaw and hit fifth Wednesday. Span is hitting just .229 in 184 plate appearances against lefties this year, so he could continue to occupy the strong side of a platoon going forward.
