Greinke torched for 5 HRs in Dodger Stadium return

Zack Greinke's career ERA at Dodger Stadium stood at 2.00 - lower than all but Sandy Koufax - in 47 career starts at the revered ballpark prior to Monday night's contest.

That number shot up in a hurry once the Los Angeles Dodgers got through with him.

Greinke's return to Los Angeles for the first time since bolting from the Dodgers for riches in the desert with the Arizona Diamondbacks didn't go anywhere close to plan. The 32-year-old was rocked by his former teammates for eight runs on nine hits, including five home runs - the first time in his career Greinke allowed five long balls in one game.

''Things were going bad and they were swinging good,'' Greinke told reporters after the game.

Four of those homers came in the fifth inning, courtesy of Joc Pederson, Corey Seager, Justin Turner, and Yasmani Grandal. That left the Dodgers one shy of tying the all-time record for most home runs in a single inning.

Grandal's homer finally convinced D-Backs manager Chip Hale to pull Greinke, who left to a showering of boos and taunts from the Los Angeles faithful. The Dodgers eventually won the game 10-2.

''I felt real comfortable out there, just not a good game,'' Greinke said. ''I felt like I was going to make pitches and get every guy out.''

Greinke spent the last three seasons with the Dodgers before he opted out of his contract to surprisingly sign a six-year, $206.5-million deal with the Diamondbacks.
