Blue Jays' Jose Bautista: Moves down, produces in Labor Day lineup
Bautista moved from the leadoff spot to the two-hole and went 1-for-3 with two walks, an RBI and a run in Monday's loss to the Yankees.
Analysis:
The removal from the leadoff spot isn't expected to last long; Russell Martin and Troy Tulowitzki were both out of the lineup Monday. Bautista is far from being a traditional leadoff hitter, but the club has prioritized OBP at the top of the order. He entered play Monday with a .222 average, but still has a solid .345 OBP, which bodes well when hitting in front of Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion.
