Royals' Alex Gordon: Sitting Sunday

Gordon (Achilles) is out of the lineup Sunday against the Tigers, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio AM reports.

Analysis:

Gordon's absence was expected after he battled discomfort in his Achilles during Saturday's game, but the Royals are hopeful he'll only need a day off before potentially returning to the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Twins. In Gordon's stead, Whit Merrifield will make a start in left field.
