Kazmir exits rehab start with neck, rib issues

The Los Angeles Dodgers' starting pitching woes are apparently following their hurlers down to the minors.

Left-hander Scott Kazmir left his rehab start at Triple-A Oklahoma City while accompanied by the team's trainer after facing just seven batters on Wednesday night.

Kazmir left feeling neck and rib pain, according to Jacob Unruh of The Oklahoman. He will now return to Los Angeles for examination, SportsNet Los Angeles' Alanna Rizzo reports.

The 32-year-old retired only two Nashville Sounds hitters during his start, which came in the first Pacific Coast League playoff game. He walked the leadoff hitter, hit the second, and then gave up a three-run homer. A few batters later the training staff visited him, and he left the field.

Kazmir hasn't pitched in the majors since Aug. 22, when he allowed four runs in just 2 2/3 innings in Cincinnati. After that game he was placed on the disabled list with neck inflammation, becoming the latest in a long line of Dodgers pitchers to hit the injured list this season.

In 25 starts this season Kazmir owns a 4.59 ERA and 134 strikeouts.
