Cubs' John Lackey: Hopes to start Sunday

Lackey (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Thursday and hopes to start on Sunday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Lackey hurled quality starts in each of his last five outings before going on the DL on August 19, but the Cubs don't want to push him with a playoff berth all but assured. If he doesn't report any shoulder soreness after Thursday's bullpen, then he'll be all set to go this weekend.
