Pirates' Ivan Nova: Sunday start interrupted by hamstring discomfort

Nova was pulled from Sunday's start against the Brewers after six innings due to left hamstring discomfort.

Analysis:

Nova cruised through six frames, surrendering only one run on three hits and no walks while striking out four batters over an economical 75 pitches. He departed the game with a 2-1 lead, so he'll be in line for the win if the Pirates' relief crew is able to keep the Brewers off the board. The Pirates will provide Nova with treatment over the next few days with the hope of alleviating the pain he's experiencing with the hamstring, but as of now, there's no guarantee he'll be able to make his next start. Look for manager Clint Hurdle to provide clarity on Nova's situation after Sunday's game concludes.
