Cardinals' Jedd Gyorko: Homers again in losing effort
Gyorko went 2-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs against the Mets on Thursday.
Analysis:
He's had his power stroke going lately, drilling six homers to go with 11 RBI and 12 runs over the last 11 games. He may still be hitting a fairly typical .249, but Gyorko has improved his plate discipline following his move to St. Louis -- he's walking more and striking out less. The main thing depressing his batting average at this point is a .247 BABIP, which he could quite reasonably improve upon by season's end.
