White Sox's James Shields: Serves up another two homers in loss to Phillies

Shields (5-16) gave up four runs on seven hits -- including another two home runs -- in Wednesday's loss to the Phillies, although he did strike out six without a walk.

Analysis:

It's nice to see Shields miss some bats and refrain from issuing free passes -- incredibly, the six whiffs represent his highest total in 15 starts with the White Sox, and this was the first time all year that he didn't walk anyone. Of course, those positives are overshadowed by the simply brutal number of homers Shields has allowed -- an incredible 11 over his last four starts and 31 on the season, the second-highest total in the majors. There's a strong argument to be made that Shields has been the worst starter in baseball this year, which should keep fantasy owners from taking a shot on the formerly name-brand hurler.
