Rays' Chris Archer: Drops solid outing to Boston on Tuesday

Archer (7-17) pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out six Red Sox in Tuesday's loss.

Analysis:

Archer's 109 pitches after five frames ended his night early, as Tuesday marked his shortest outing since May 22. Despite the slight disappointment, the right-hander continued to pitch much better since the All-Star break, now owning a 2.94 ERA with 61 strikeouts over 53 innings since the Midsummer Classic. Archer has logged five quality starts in his last seven game, while lowering his ERA to 4.11, it best mark since Opening Day.
