Pirates' David Freese: Agrees to extension with Pirates
Freese agreed to a two-year contract extension, which includes a club option for 2019, with the Pirates on Monday.
Analysis:
Freese has played well in his first season with the Pirates, posting a .792 OPS over 107 games, so the team decided to lock him up for at least another couple years. The Pirates have several options at the two positions Freese plays -- first base and third base -- so he may not have a regular starting spot at all times. However, with the extension in hand, expect him to continue seeing ample action at both spots.
