Blue Jays' Aaron Sanchez: Optioned temporarily

Sanchez will be skipped the next time through the Blue Jays' rotation, so the team decided to option him to High-A Dunedin on Sunday to free up a roster spot, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.

Analysis:

The Blue Jays want to conserve Sanchez's innings and could have made him available out of the bullpen while still skipping a start, but Sanchez started Saturday and would have been unavailable for several days anyway, so the team decided to send him to the minors in order to open up a spot for reliever Aaron Loup. Sanchez cannot be recalled for 10 days after being sent down, so his next outing with the big club will come either on the last day of this month or sometime in September.
