Cubs' Chris Coghlan: Placed on DL

Coghlan was placed on the disabled list with a rib contusion, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.

Analysis:

Coghlan made the most of his limited action in August, going 4-for-13 at the plate with three RBI. However, he hadn't been seeing consistent playing time, so his absence will hardly be felt by the Cubs. In a corresponding move, the Cubs recalled Spender Patton from Triple-A Iowa.
