Jayson Werth has etched himself a place in the Washington Nationals' record books.

The outfielder reached base safely for a 43rd consecutive game by working a first-inning walk against the Colorado Rockies on Monday, moving him into a tie with teammate Ryan Zimmerman for the longest on-base streak in team history.

Werth has hit .257/.378/.446 with 30 walks over the course of his streak, which began with a hit against the Dodgers on June 20.

Zimmerman reached base in 43 consecutive games during the 2009 season to set the team record.

Only Werth, Zimmerman, and former Montreal Expos great Larry Walker (1993) have recorded 40-game on-base streaks during a single season in Nationals/Expos franchise history. Tim Raines and Rusty Staub both had longer on-base streaks with the Expos, although both of those were compiled over two seasons.

At 43 games, Werth is now more than halfway to Ted Williams' major-league record of 84 consecutive games reaching base, set during the 1949 season.
