Pirates' Jung Ho Kang: Struggling to make adjustments

Kang, who is expected to start Saturday, has seen his numbers drop precipitously since pitchers have begun throwing him fewer fastballs, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Analysis:

"The way they've pitched him is completely different than last year," manager Clint Hurdle said. "They've executed their game plans...Them knowing what didn't work last year, and counter attacking this year." Opponents have thrown him fastballs only 47 percent of the time, down from 55.7 percent in 2015. Since an alleged sexual assault June 17, Kang has posted a slash line of .179/.269/.292 in 119 plate appearances. The normally sure-fielding third baseman has also made five errors in five August starts.
