Red Sox's David Price: Earns first win in a month

Price allowed three runs on 10 hits and one walk while striking out eight over eight innings in Boston's 9-4 win over Arizona on Friday.

Analysis:

Price, who earned his first win since July 10, gave up a couple of homers and told Annie Maroon of MassLive.com that he still needs "to throw the ball better." There's certainly room for improvement -- Price hasn't been consistent from start to start, is giving up a ton of hits, and has allowed more homers this season than he did in all of 2015. "I've got a four and a half (ERA) right now, and that's not what I envisioned whenever I came here," Price said when asked about pitching eight full innings Friday. "I've had my fair share of really bad games, of two innings or three innings or not making it through five or pitching into the sixth, so it helps to get those sevens and those eights." Price's next scheduled start is Wednesday at division-leading Baltimore.
