Red Sox's Craig Kimbrel: Day-to-day with knee soreness

Kimbrel experienced knee soreness during his attempted save Tuesday and is unsure if he will be available over the next couple days, the Providence Journal's Evan Drellich Reports.

Analysis:

He missed almost a month with a knee injury and after three appearances since being activated off the DL, he is now being bothered by his knee again, which is clearly not good. Kimbrel gave up a run on four walks while needing 37 pitches to record just two outs Tuesday in a failed save attempt that will go down as a hold after Matt Barnes was able to come in and record the final out of the ninth inning. Considering Kimbrel threw 37 pitches, he likely wouldn't have been available Wednesday anyway, but now his availability Thursday and into the weekend is in question. More updates should be available in the coming days, but it would not be surprising to see Brad Ziegler called on for the Red Sox's next save.
