Joe Nathan is going back to where it all started after agreeing to a minor-league contract Tuesday with the San Francisco Giants, reports MLB Network's Jon Heyman.
The deal is pending a physical.
Nathan was designated for assignment by the Chicago Cubs on Aug. 5 after appearing in three games, allowing two hits in two innings without giving up a run.
The former closer joins a Giants squad that's blown the third most saves in all of baseball.
