Giants' Denard Span: Returns to lineup Tuesday, steals two bases

Span (quadriceps) returned to the lineup Tuesday, going 1-for-5 with a pair of steals and a run scored in the loss to Philadelphia.

Analysis:

While he didn't do a whole lot with the bat, Span showed fantasy owners that his minor quadriceps injury is nothing to worry about after stealing two bases. The veteran outfielder must have noticed something about the timing of the Phillies' pitchers Tuesday, as he was able to get a huge jump on both of his steal attempts, only inducing a late throw on one of them. The steals were Span's 10th and 11th of the season, and he will need to do more of that in the second half to offset his disappointing season with the bat.
