Yankees' Andrew Miller: Traded to Cleveland

Miller was traded to the Indians on Sunday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports. According to ESPN.com's Buster Olney, the Yankees are expected to receive prospects Clint Frazier and Justus Sheffield in return, along with two additional players.

Analysis:

Rosenthal reported just hours earlier that the Indians had tentatively agreed to a trade to acquire catcher Jonathan Lucroy from the Brewers, and the Tribe's pursuit of Miller, perhaps the top reliever available on the market, suggests the team is going all in this season and in 2017, too, as both Miller and Lucroy are under contract for both years. From a statistical standpoint, Miller's 1.39 ERA and 40.7 K-BB percentage would make him an upgrade over the Indians' current closer, Cody Allen (2.58 ERA, 21.6 K-BB%), but it's unclear if the team will immediately plug Miller in as their ninth-inning man. Regardless, Miller figures to assume a high-usage, high-leverage role and should bring increased stability to the team's relief corps.
