Mets' Jose Reyes: Placed on 15-day DL

Reyes (ribs) landed on the 15-day DL on Saturday, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Analysis:

Reyes is battling an intercostal strain, which he initially sustained back on Tuesday. The Mets had hoped that a few days of rest would be all Reyes needed, but after showing only minimal improvement, the veteran will head to the DL. considering he hasn't played since Tuesday, the stint will likely be backdated to July 27, meaning Reyes could return as early as August 10.
