Twins' Joe Mauer: Not in lineup Friday

Mauer is out of the lineup for Friday's tilt with the White Sox, Brandon Warne of ColdOmahaMN reports.

Analysis:

With lefty Jose Quintana on the mound for the White Sox, Mauer, who's batted 20-for-92 (.217) against southpaws this season, will get an off day as Kennys Vargas replaces him at first and bats fourth. Mauer will likely return to the lineup Saturday as Minnesota faces off against righty Miguel Gonzalez in Game-2 of the series.
