Cardinals' Lance Lynn: Throwing live batting practice

Lynn (elbow) has thrown seven live batting practice sessions and will continue with those through the end of August, MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

Now close to nine months removed from undergoing Tommy John surgery, Lynn is throwing off the bullpen mound regularly, building his workload up as high as 45 pitches in some sessions. He recently began incorporating his offspeed pitches, and while he is not expecting to make it back to the majors this season, Lynn is not ruling out the possibility. Manager Mike Matheny said Lynn was "further along than I thought he'd be as far as the intensity" after watching Lynn's bullpen session Thursday.
