Reds' Caleb Cotham: Transferred to 60-day disabled list

Cotham (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Thursday.

Analysis:

With Homer Bailey coming back from the 60-day disabled list, the Reds needed to clear a spot on their 40-man roster and did so by transferring Cotham. The 28-year-old Cotham is working his way back from a shoulder injury that has sidelined him since the end of May. He threw one scoreless inning in his most recent rehab outing on July 16, but the Reds transferring him over to the 60-day disabled list suggests he's still a little bit away from returning to the bigs.
