Sano kisses ball before recording final out

MLB.com

Every Minnesota Twins win is precious these days.

Maybe that's why third baseman Miguel Sano felt the need to kiss the baseball after he cleanly fielded Xander Bogaerts' game-ending grounder, before throwing to first to complete the play and seal an 11-9 Twins victory.

Sano told reporters Sunday that he planted the kiss because it was an "emotional game," according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com. Manager Paul Molitor had a bit of a different theory.

"Someone said it was because it was a grounder and not a popup," Molitor quipped to reporters, referencing Sano's well-known defensive struggles.
