Cubs' Jason Hammel: Throws five innings in win Friday

Hammel (9-5) allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings to earn the win Friday in Milwaukee.

Analysis:

Hammel was staked to a 4-0 lead in the second inning before allowing single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, leading to his exit from the contest after throwing only 76 pitches. After allowing 10 runs on July 1, he's now held opponents to two runs or fewer in each of his last three starts to lower his ERA to 3.35 on the season. He'll make his next start Wednesday against the White Sox.
