Nationals' Ryan Zimmerman: Starts rehab assignment Thursday

Zimmerman (ribs) will start a rehab assignment with High-A Potomac on Thursday, the Washington Post's Chelsea Janes reports.

Analysis:

Manager Dusty Baker said he hopes Zimmerman will get three rehab games in and then travel with the team to Cleveland, with his activation coming Tuesday. He struggled before landing on the DL, slashing .221/.284/.402, although he managed 12 homers in 74 games, and could be a sneaky source of power down the stretch.
