The San Francisco Giants are still in the Aroldis Chapman sweepstakes, but they're not very confident about their chances.

Though they've been in hot pursuit of the New York Yankees closer, the Giants now believe they're not among the finalists for Chapman's services, according to Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News.

The Giants have been trying to give themselves a better shot at Chapman but, according to Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle, are not getting any sort of response from Yankees general manager Brian Cashman.

As a result, it appears San Francisco is now turning its eyes elsewhere for relief help; Baggarly noted the team is specifically eyeing Philadelphia Phillies stopper Jeanmar Gomez, a name that was linked to San Francisco earlier in the month.

It was reported earlier Sunday by Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports that the Chicago Cubs are "strong in the mix" for Chapman thanks to their deep farm system, with the Washington Nationals also pushing hard to acquire him.

Chapman is in his first season with the Yankees and will be a free agent at season's end.
