Giants' Jeff Samardzija: Pitches well in tough environment Saturday

Samardzija took a no-decision after tossing 7.1 innings of four-run ball Saturday. He struck out five and walked none in the 6-5 loss to Arizona.

Analysis:

While surrendering four earned runs is never anything to celebrate, it was actually a positive step for Samardzija, who had surrendered six runs in both of his last two starts. He also did not surrender a walk or a home run, both of which were issues during the month of June. He will look to improve on this performance when the Giants return home to take on these same Diamondbacks on Friday.
