Pirates' David Freese: Out of Sunday's lineup

Freese is out of the lineup Sunday against the Athletics, MLB.com reports.

Analysis:

As the top backup at both of the corner infield spots, Freese has been able to hang on to semi-regular at-bats even while both Jung-Ho Kang and John Jaso are healthy. Freese's value hasn't merely remain limited to NL-only formats, though: he's batting a respectable .264 with three homers and 15 RBI in 79 plate appearances since the start of June. He'll get the day off Sunday, but don't expect Freese to remain out of the lineup for long, since he had started each of the seven previous games.
