Yankees' CC Sabathia: Smacked around in loss to Rangers

Sabathia (ankle) struggled for a second straight start Tuesday against the Rangers, falling to 5-5 after giving up six runs on eight hits over seven innings with one walk and two strikeouts.

Analysis:

Maybe the twisted right ankle suffered in his previous start is to blame, but, whatever the cause, Sabathia has allowed six runs in consecutive outings after giving up no more than three in any of his 11 appearances. The veteran's return to form was a nice early-season story, but that narrative will likely have to be put on hold until he recovers from this ailment. While his next scheduled start is a juicy Sunday road matchup with the Padres, Sabathia's recent rut makes him tough to trust if he's able to pitch in that contest.
